Lowell Adam Ottinger,
88, of West Point, died in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, on
Saturday, November 4, 2000 at 12:53 p.m., following a bout with cancer. Born in
Carbondale on June 16, 1912, he was the son of the late George Edward and Rosa
(Pavey) Ottinger. He was raised in Warren County, attending West Lebanon
schools. He later lived in Attica and had resided in West Point since 1937. Mr.
Ottinger was a hydraulic cylinder repairman at TRW in Lafayette when he retired
in 1970. He formerly worked on the Wabash Railroad and for Alcoa Aluminum in
Lafayette. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette. He
enjoyed fishing and watching baseball in his past time. He formerly bowled on
several bowling leagues in Lafayette. His marriage was to Catherine Mary
DeSutter on April 17, 1937 in Attica. She survives. Also surviving, are: two
sons, Edward (Joan) Ottinger of West Point; Leon (Peg) Ottinger of Lafayette;
two daughters, Donna Morris of New Haven and Nancy (Ronald) Allen of West
Point; two sisters, Ossie Pearson of Rockville and Dorothy Meyers of Delphi; a
brother, Walter (Viola) Ottinger of Williamsport; nine grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Visitation was Tuesday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Service there on Wednesday
with Rev. Charles Kline officiating. Interment in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery,
Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. – jlr
